U.S. Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA) has been appointed as the Vice Chair of the Conservative Climate Caucus for the 118th Congress. He is optimistic that his role will bolster the caucus's ongoing commitment to educating House Republicans on climate and energy issues.
In a press release by Carter's office, he stated, "I’m excited to work with Chairman Curtis, and my fellow vice chairs, to grow, expand, and strengthen the Conservative Climate Caucus (CCC). If conservatives are scared to talk about the climate, then we’re not going to have a seat at the table when decisions are made. We are right on policy, so we need a seat at the table. That’s why I joined the CCC, and I look forward to productive discussions about how best to protect our environment and promote clean energy solutions without kneecapping growth and innovation, just as we have in the State of Georgia."
The same press release announced that Carter will serve alongside Jen Kiggans (R-VA), Greg Murphy (R-NC), Tim Walberg (R-MI), and Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR). These newly appointed chairs will join the ongoing leadership of Chair Representative John Curtis (R-UT) and Vice Chair Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA).
According to statements from the Conservative Climate Caucus, it advocates for market-driven solutions that support innovative technologies. The caucus asserts that fossil fuels can play a significant role in a global emission reduction strategy. Their objective is to educate House Republicans on climate policies aligned with conservative values, conduct briefings on conservative climate proposals, oppose progressive climate policies harmful to the economy and national security, and facilitate connections between officials.
