The latest movie from filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, titled "Police State," will be shown at a Brunswick movie theater on October 23. The film explores what D’Souza refers to as "police state" activity by the government, ranging from the post-9/11 "Patriot Act" to recent instances of COVID-19 lockdowns, social media censorship, and the prosecution of concerned parents at school board meetings. The movie also delves into the surveillance and detention of Americans who were in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021.
D’Souza expressed his surprise at the need to make such a film, stating, "I honestly wouldn't have believed, prior to the 2020 election and prior to Biden coming to office, that I’d be making this movie. Which really shows that we have seen a speedy introduction of the police state on many different levels."
"Police State" features D’Souza himself, along with actor Nick Searcy, and interviews with U.S. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R), radio host Dan Bongino, and several government whistleblowers.
The film's trailer has garnered 74 million views on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The screening of "Police State" will take place at Glynn Place Cinemas, located at 400 Mall Blvd in Brunswick. There will be two showings on October 23, one at 6:30 p.m. and another at 7 p.m. For those unable to attend the Brunswick screening, the movie's website lists additional viewings in Athens, Columbus, and other communities.
