Few Tips on Personal Safety to Hopefully Make You and Your Loved Ones Safer

Journatic

Glynn County PD Wants to remind you of a few tips on personal safety to hopefully make you and your loved ones safer.

* Although it may be a bright sunny day, criminals don’t work on a Monday-Friday schedule. They seize any opportunity they can.* Don’t be distracted while walking to your vehicle in a parking area. Be “heads-up!”* Use a buddy system and travel in pairs when possible.* If approached by a stranger, or someone you do not want to be in contact with, be confident, assertive, and loud. Tell them, “Get away from me, I’m not interested!” You want to draw attention to the situation and have onlookers take notice of  what is happening.*  Try to remember specific items about the individual. Focus on the color of eyes/skin/car etc.* Report the incident to the local law enforcement at once/right away – time is important* If you are followed in a vehicle, drive to the nearest police or fire station for assistance.

Remember that criminals often plan their crimes -  They look for the right opportunity and the easiest victim.

Your best defense is a personal security plan aimed at reducing the opportunity for criminals to victimize you.
