City of Brunswick’s Arbor Day Tree Giveaway to be held on Saturday, Feb. 25
The City of Brunswick’s Tree Board will celebrate this year’s Arbor Day by giving away native tree saplings to City residents in an effort to maintain tree benefits and preserve tree canopy in the City. The event will occur on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Mary Ross Park from 9am-12pm, starting with a proclamation from the mayor followed by a tree walk at 10am to learn more about the native trees in the downtown area.
Thanks to a recent Georgia ReLeaf grant from the Georgia Tree Council, the trees available are Willow Oak, River Birch, Princeton Elm, Okame Cherry, Sweet Bay Magnolia and Bald Cypress, and are available on a first come, first serve basis to City residents while supplies last (proof of residency required, one per household). Other tree seedlings will also be available to Glynn County residents thanks to partners Keep Golden Isles Beautiful and Georgia Power Company. The event will also feature other local organizations that support local tree planting and preservation efforts in the community. The City of Brunswick has been recognized as Tree City USA community for the past 21 years.
