The Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus welcomed its first 2023 baby on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023. Hai Yan Fang set eyes on her adorable son, Jasper Jiang, for the first time at 9:07 a.m. Little Jasper arrived just in time to earn the recognition of being the first baby born at the Health System’s Camden Campus Maternity Care Center in 2023.

In addition to his proud mama, Jasper was welcomed into the world by his older sister, Joyce Jiang. Jasper weighed in at 7 pounds 3 ounces and measured 20 inches. He was delivered by Bradley W. Newton, MD, board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Obstetrics & Gynecology. A Kingsland local, Fang moved to the area three years ago to be closer to her family, the owners of China King restaurant.

To celebrate the first baby of 2023, Camden Campus Maternity Care Center presented the family with a basket filled with gifts and baby care necessities from the Health System’s Volunteer Services Gift Shop.
