At their October 18, 2022, regular meeting, the Camden County Board of Commissioners accepted a $60,178.50 grant from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) for the purchase of portable AM Radio Stations.
“This is another tool that will help Camden County residents and visitors be better informed during and following emergencies,” said Camden County Emergency Management Director Chuck White. “We can provide timely and specific messages to the public via AM Radio.”
The HMGP funds 75% of the total cost and Camden County is contributing $20,059.50, or 25% of the total $80,238 project cost. The AM Radio Stations will be used as needed to broadcast specific emergency management and all hazards notifications. Obtaining the grant and purchasing the AM Radio Stations were part of Camden County’s 2022-2027-2037 Strategic Plan.
