CAMDEN COUNTY - GA: Increased Construction for Road Preservation

Camden County - GA issued the following announcement on May 2. 

Drivers in central and southwestern Camden County may be impacted by delays associated with the increased construction activity surrounding  pavement preservation. Traffic control and flagging operations will be utilized beginning Monday, May 9, 2022.

All impacted roadways will receive pavement preservation and line striping. There will be a first application scrub to seal all cracks and will take a few days to complete all roads. The second application will start approximately one week later to complete a Micro Surface application to all roads. Temporary Line Striping will be completed on all roads before final striping that will be completed within thirty (30) days.

Impacted roads include:

 Mallard Point Subdivision off of Harriett’s Bluff Road in central Camden County,

 Browntown Road and the Landings Subdivision off of Georgia Hwy 40 in southwest Camden County,

 Escott Road and the Fawnwood Subdivision off of US Hwy 17 in southern Camden County,

 Springhill Road South and the Springhill Hill Subdivision off of Georgia Hwy 40 in southwest Camden County, and

 Simpson Road and Jimmy Fodrell Road off of Vacuna Road in southwest Camden County.

Residents and travelers in the areas should exercise caution when driving and be aware of the construction work taking place.

Over 10.6 miles of roadway are receiving pavement preservation work. This over $827,000 project is funded by Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VII and a Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) from the Georgia Department of Transportation. SPLOST VII funds were collected between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2019. Camden County voters approved SPLOST VIII in 2019 and will collect funds through June 30, 2025.
