CAMDEN COUNTY - GA: Six New Firefighters Join Camden County Fire Rescue

Camden County - GA issued the following announcement on Mar. 16. 

The Camden County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that the six members of Recruit Class 2022-10 have completed their Basic Firefighter requirements. Cameron Conner, Jerry Edwards, Jacob Hopkins, Aaron Kadlubowski, Jonah Klawuhn, and Cheyenne Thiemann were recognized at a graduation ceremony held earlier this week along with Sarah Kimsey and Kaleb Swanson of St. Marys Fire Department. 

In his keynote address, Chief Charles Lowther encouraged the new firefighters to follow three rules to live and work by: Show up and be ready; Always give 100%; and Never lie. He also stressed the importance of integrity for firefighters. Dozens of colleagues, family, and friends listened as similar sentiments and instructions were expressed by Camden County Fire Rescue Chief Terry Smith and others throughout the ceremony.

“These new firefighters are equipped to be respected contributors to public safety thanks to valuable assistance from our partners at Kingsland Fire Rescue and St. Marys Fire Department,” said CCFR Chief Terry Smith. “We continue to be thankful to the Board of Commissioners for their ongoing support of this program and Camden County Fire Rescue.”

Members of Recruit Class 2022-10 selected Jonah Klawuhn as their Class Speaker. Jerry Edwards was honored for having the highest class average. The Award of Excellence was presented to Jacob Hopkins and Sarah Kimsey. Jonah Klawuhn was recognized as Most Improved. 

The ten-week program included both classroom and practical skills training to prepare firefighter recruits for earning state certification. Instructors recognized during the graduation ceremony include: Training Captain Jeffrey Jones, Captain Keith Brown, Captain Travis Swann, Sergeant Jamie Marr, Firefighter/EMT Mark Hammitt, Firefighter Alyssa Diaz, Firefighter Hailey Labellarte, Firefighter Lucas Peralta, and Josh Ingles.
