Mr. CARTER of Georgia. Madam Speaker, I rise today to recognize my friend, Edward Zipperer, of Savannah, Georgia for his 90th birthday on August 8.
Ed has dedicated his life to improving the great state of Georgia.
Born in Savannah, Georgia in 1931, Ed was raised on a farm south of US 17. He went on to play football at Savannah high school and earned a degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Georgia.
Ed served in the Georgia State Senate from 1967 to 1975 and was on 13 separate committees during his tenure. He also served as the president of Chatham County Farm Bureau for 40 years. Some of his accomplishments include bringing new state parks and recreational areas to our Coastal Georgia community.
Throughout his career, Ed remained committed to conserving and protecting the beautiful lands of South Georgia.
I am proud to rise today to honor Ed for his decades of leadership, and commitment to our country.
