College of Coastal Georgia issued the following announcement on Dec. 8.
The College of Coastal Georgia will host a traditional fall commencement while keeping safety a top priority on Sat., Dec. 11, starting at 11 a.m. at the Jekyll Island Convention Center.
For this commencement, students will be graduating in one place, at one time with unlimited guests, like in years past. There will be enough room for students and their guests to socially distance. Attendees are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings while inside the convention center.
Commencement will feature remarks from College of Coastal Georgia President Michelle Johnston, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Johnny Evans, College of Coastal Georgia Foundation Chair Bill Stembler and student speakers.
Johnston considers graduation to be a very special day for the College community.
“One of my favorite things to do as president of the College is greet students as they come across the graduation stage. To now be able to do that in front of all their friends and family is very exciting,” said Johnston. “It’s wonderful to bring our entire Mariner family together to celebrate graduation while keeping people safe at the same time.”
Fall commencement will be livestreamed on the College of Coastal Georgia Facebook page and College of Coastal Georgia YouTube channel.
