The final stats don’t tell the story of how dominating the Brunswick Pirates were in defeating the Richmond Hill Wildcats, 42-7 on Friday.
Brunswick (8-0, 4-0 Region 2) were only on offense for 40 plays, compared with 63 for Richmond Hill (2-5, 2-2) and only made 9 first downs, to 15 for the Wildcats, but their 300 yards in total offense came in bunches and the 189 yards they allowed took time off the clock, as the Pirates scored 124 points in each of the first three quarters to seal the deal.
Jumping out to a 28-0 halftime lead, the Pirates stayed on the gas and were up 35-0 in the third quarter before allowing a Richmond Hill score. Brunswick scored their final tally near the end of the third and coasted in the 4th with subs to finish at 42-7.
The Pirates were led on offense by quarterbacks senior Jeffrey Wayne – 2 for 4 for 54 yards, and junior Sutton Ellis, 2 for 6 for 79 yards and a 412-yard TD. On the ground, senior Chuckobe Hill gained 102 yards on 9 carries including a 34 yard burst, and 2 touchdowns, and senior Ree Simmons picked up 4 yards on 10 carries as the Pirates had 167 yards rushing.
On defense, senior Adam Mweemba has 6 solo tackles, assisted on 2 others and was credited with 2 sacks, and senior Staffon Stanley also had 6 solos and added 1 assist. Junior Kashawn Thomas made 4 solos and had 1 assist.
