Grant

City of Hinesville issued the following announcement on Aug. 23.

To help the local economy recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Hinesville is offering another round of its Small Business Recovery Grant. The application period opens at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, and closes at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16. When the application period opens, eligible business owners and partners are encouraged to apply at cityofhinesville.org.

“During the first round of our Small Business Recovery Grant, we awarded over 30 businesses a total of $155,000,” City Manager Kenneth Howard said. “These funds are crucial in ensuring that our local businesses stay open. I’m happy to say that we’re able to offer another round of grant funding to our local businesses and we hope they apply.”

Approximately, $95,000 in grant funding is available in the second round of the Small Business Recovery Grant. To encourage more business to apply, the Hinesville City Council recently updated the eligibility requirements. Now, even more businesses are eligible.

Eligible for-profit businesses must be located within the city limits and in operation as of September 30, 2020 with documented loss of income. Preference will be given to businesses declined in the initial (round one) June 2020 solicitation for Small Business Recovery Grant applications. Funds awarded must be used for business payroll, rent, mortgage, utility or COVID-19 mitigation efforts.
