Retirement happy 1000x667

City of Brunswick issued the following announcement on Aug. 21.

The Brunswick Police Department announces the retirement of Lieutenant Edward J. Hall, III today. Lieutenant Hall has proudly served the City of Brunswick community for nearly 36 years.

Sworn into public service in September of 1985 after leaving the United States Coast Guard, Lieutenant Hall has served in a variety of assignments during his career, beginning with the patrol division. Following that initial assignment, he was transferred to the CAPAC (Citizens and Police Against Crime) unit. After being promoted to corporal in 1997, Lt. Hall moved to the Criminal Investigations Division the following year. After serving as an investigator for a period, he returned to the street patrol division where he achieved the rank of sergeant and was named Officer of the Year in 2005. Lt. Hall also worked as a member of the Marine Patrol Unit during this time. Lt. Hall then returned to Criminal Investigations as a supervisor after a promotion to lieutenant, where he served for approximately two years. His next assignment was as the State Certification Manager for the department. His final position before retiring was in Community Services.

Although he has experience working in various areas of the department, Lt. Hall has often commented that he was happiest in the patrol division as his greatest enjoyment came from being a “boots on the ground” officer.

The Chief of Police, Kevin Jones, along with the officers and staff of the Brunswick Police Department wish Lieutenant Hall the best in his retirement and whatever endeavors follow, and we extend our gratitude for the dedicated years of service to this department and the citizens of the City of Brunswick.
