County of Glynn issued the following announcement on Aug. 12.
In order to store materials to reconstruct the wooden fender system, the eastern side of the St. Simons Island pier will be closed beginning Thursday, August 12, 2021 and will remain closed through the construction. Additionally, the entire pier will be closed weekday nights from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. from August 23, 2021 through September 3, 2021 in order to replace the vinyl soffit material over the walkway.
