City of Hinesville issued the following announcement on Aug. 3.
Due to inclement weather forecasted for the area, the Hinesville Police Department (HPD) will postpone its National Night Out event. The event, which was originally scheduled for today, will now take place on Friday, Sept. 10, from 5:30-8 p.m. at Bryant Commons Park, located at 438 W. Oglethorpe Highway. National Night Out is the largest annual drug and crime prevention event in the nation; it seeks to promote police community partnerships.
“Everyone at the Hinesville Police Department has been looking forward to the National Night Out event,” Chief Lloyd Slater said. “It’s with public safety in mind that we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the event until September.”
The newly rescheduled National Night Out event will feature fun for the whole family, including a dunk tank, bounce house, carnival-like games and dinner provided by HPD. This event is free and open to the public.
