City of Hinesville issued the following announcement on Aug. 2.
Today, the City of Hinesville released its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended Oct. 31, 2020. The report shows that despite the challenges spurred by the coronavirus pandemic, the City continues to be fiscally sound. Soon, residents living within the city limits will receive a hard copy of this report in the mail.
“2020 was a year of unprecedented challenges, and the City met those challenges head on,” City Manager Kenneth Howard said. “From adjusting our daily operations to maintaining and open and transparent government, the City continued moving forward, and it did so in a fiscally sound fashion.”
Each year, the City releases the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) and citizens are mailed a hard copy of the report in the summer. In addition to financial data, including revenues and expenditures, the report features notes from elected officials, articles on City departments and more. Recently, the City received an Award of Outstanding Achievement for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended Oct. 31, 2019. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) presented the award to the City and has consistently recognized the City for its excellence in financial reporting since 2006.
The City of Hinesville’s Finance Department, which prepares the Popular Annual Financial Report and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, manages all financial resources for the municipality and safeguards assets through appropriate controls and accounting practices.
