City of Hinesville issued the following announcement on July 24.
On Tues., Aug.3, the Hinesville Police Department (HPD) will join police departments across the nation to host National Night Out, the largest annual drug and crime prevention event in the nation. This event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at Bryant Commons Park, located at 438 W. Oglethorpe Highway, from 5:30-8 p.m. During the event, residents will be able to meet local police officers and learn more about crime prevention and public safety. National Night Out, which began in 1984, takes place on the first Tuesday in August and seeks to promote police-community partnerships.
“At the Hinesville Police Department, we are committed to maintaining strong relationships with the community,” Chief Lloyd Slater said. “We invite everyone to come out for National Night Out on Aug. 3 and enjoy in some good-natured fun with our police officers.”
This event will feature fun for the whole family. Children can enjoy dunking police officers in a dunk tank, jumping in bounce houses, having their face painted and playing carnival-like games. Parents and children alike can also enjoy a dinner of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, popcorn and bottled water provided by HPD. This event will include CDC safety procedures and precautions.
HPD’s National Night Out partners include Fun Faces Character and Party Rentals, Graceland Bounce, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and Sherriff William Bowman, Maui Wowi Hawaiian Smoothie, South Magazine, Sunbeam Bread and Your Family Hospice, LLC.
Partnership opportunities are still available to local businesses, non-profit organizations and community stakeholders wishing to participate in this community event.
