Records indicated a total enrollment of 872 students at Snelson-Golden Middle School for the 2024-25 year. Hispanic students represented 13% of the population, ranking as the school’s second-largest demographic group.
The school belongs to the Liberty County School District, whose central office is located in Hinesville.

The National Center for Education Statistics reported that public school students in Georgia were approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. GaDOE responded with a statewide initiative, introducing a real-time attendance dashboard, launching a public awareness campaign, and providing targeted resources to districts with high needs to improve attendance rates.
In 2025, the Georgia legislature updated school attendance laws, prohibiting expulsion solely for absenteeism. The new law also established additional reporting rules and coordinated with programs designed to support alternative pathways to a diploma for students.
Georgia’s student-to-teacher ratio reached about 14:1 by 2026, outperforming the national average of 15:1 as reported by Public School Review.
