SAVANNAH CHATHAM COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM: New Beginnings Youth Art Exhibition Opens 21st Show

Savannah Chatham County Public School System issued the following announcement on Feb. 23. 

The Savannah (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, hosted an opening night reception for the New Beginnings Art Exhibit Tuesday, February 22.   The NBAE, now in its 21st year, has provided middle and high school students in Chatham County an opportunity to develop their fine art skills, complete in a juried competition and exhibit their work in a public venue.   The awards were presented to the artists in The Ben Tucker Theater with Mayor Van Johnson, Dr. Ann Levett, and members of The Links giving remarks.   View photos from the opening here. 

The winners of the competition are:

Best of Show: Trinidy Jenkins, Garrison K-8 

Middle School: 1st Lillian Chandler, Garrison K-8 for femme fleur

                            2nd London Kinsey, Garrison K-8 for Grace of our heritage

                            3rd Calleigh Peterson, Garrison K-8 for Ta’ ahine oku ofa he tahl

High School: 1st Nyriel Saures, Savannah Arts for My HAIRitage

                        2nd Chloe Robertson, Savannah Arts for She’s a Beautiful Mess

                        3rd Christopher Thomas, Savannah Arts for My Once a Day  

The art teacher from Garrison School for the Arts is Amy Kidane.   Savannah Arts teachers are Steve Schetski and Tessa Parker.
