Jane Macon Middle sees enrollment of 15 Asian students for 2024-25

Jane Macon Middle School enrolled 15 Asian students for the 2024-25 year, matching the enrollment from the prior year, according to reports from the Georgia Department of Education.

Enrollment data indicates there were 795 students in total at Jane Macon Middle School during the 2024-25 year. Of these, 2% were Asian students, which represents the smallest demographic group at the school.

The school is part of Glynn County School District, which has its main office in Brunswick.

Within Glynn County School District’s 16 schools, Glynn Academy and Brunswick High School both had the largest enrollments of Asian students in the 2024-25 year with 36 each.

The National Center for Education Statistics reports that Georgia’s public school enrollment includes approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander students.

Chronic absenteeism continues to be a significant challenge for Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more days of school in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. The department launched a statewide initiative including a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and additional support for high-need districts to promote daily attendance.

Georgia lawmakers passed a measure in 2025 to update school attendance laws, which now prohibit expulsion only for absenteeism. The law also introduces new reporting requirements and connects with programs that give students alternative routes to a diploma.

As of 2026, Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio was about 14:1, which is lower than the national average of 15:1.
