Bob Duncan, a Republican candidate for the District 2 seat on the Glynn County Board of Commissioners, advanced from the primary to a runoff election for the GOP nomination. The runoff election is scheduled to be held on June 18th.
In the May 21 race against Amy Abbott and George T. Ragsdale, Duncan received 1,232 votes, or 39.68 percent. Abbott received 1,252 votes, or 40.32 percent, and Ragsdale received 621 votes, or 20 percent. As the top two vote-getters in the primary, Duncan and Abbott will face off in the upcoming runoff election on June 18th.
In a post on his campaign’s Facebook page, Duncan said he planned to address long term solutions for traffic issues in the community, as well as the rate of development in the area.
Duncan also said he was elected to the Joint Water and Sewer Commission in 2018 and helped maintain stable rates throughout his term, keeping them below the consumer price index. In July 2023, he was appointed by Governor. Brian Kemp to represent the First Congressional District for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
According to the fiscal year 2025 proposed budget for Glynn County, the budget revolves primarily around goals of ensuring safety, education, and connection in the community. The proposed FY2025 budget includes improvements to infrastructure and technology and a focus on first responders.
In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Duncan by saying “Bob Duncan is a staunch advocate for strong private property rights, which is foundational to our mission at RED PAC. His professional experience and leadership roles, including his appointment by Governor Kemp to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and his tenure on the Board of Commissioners for Water and Sewer, illustrate his commitment to these principles. Duncan’s comprehensive endorsements highlight his capability and readiness to uphold these rights and drive responsible development in Glynn County.”
According to the Glynn County Board of Commissioners’ website, the commissioners are charged with “establishing policy for county operations, enacting ordinances and resolutions to promote the county’s health, safety, and welfare, and approving the annual budget which funds the operations of the constitutional officers as well as the departments under the Board’s jurisdiction.” The Board comprises seven members who serve staggered four-year terms, with five members each representing one district and two members serving at-large. Every two years, the board chooses a chair.
