Gage Ochsner Kids Fishing & Water Safety Event

On Saturday, September 24, 2022 PM the 11th Annual Gage Ochsner Kids Fishing & Water Safety Event will occur from 8:45 AM – 11:00 AM at the Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion. This free event for children 5 – 12 years in age teaches them not only how to fish but also how to be safe on and around the water. 

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. To register for one of the two fishing sessions (8:45am–10:00am or 9:45am– 11:00am), please visit Aquatic.chathamcounty.org or call 912-652-6793 for more information. Also, please note that each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event (at least 1 parent for 3 children).

When: Saturday, September 24th, 8:45AM – 11:00AM 

Where: Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion, Tybrisa St., Tybee Island, GA 31328 

Additional Details: Chatham County’s Aquatic Center is collaborating with other agencies to make this annual event a full learning experience as well as lots of fun for all involved. Kids will visit educational booths before fishing, and each participant will receive a free fishing rod & reel and a tackle box. Lunch is provided for everyone! 

Dr. M. Gage Oshner, Jr., was an avid fisherman as well as a trauma surgeon who had a passion for preventing childhood injury. This terrific Kids Fishing & Water Safety Event named for him is held each year in September on one of the State of Georgia’s two “free fishing days.”
