GA U.S. House District 1 issued the following announcement on Jan. 26.

Today, Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) invites community members across Georgia’s First District to join him this Valentine’s Day in thanking first responders for the hard work they do to protect their community.

“We rely on first responders to protect our health, safety, and well-being. It’s time we give something back to them,” said Carter.

“Firsts of the First” is a campaign to collect valentines for first responders in Georgia’s First Congressional District. Rep. Carter will deliver the valentines cards personally on February 14th to firefighters, EMTs, and police officers as a token of the community’s love and appreciation for their sacrifices.

“Firefighters, police officers, and EMTs put their lives on the line to protect ours. I can think of no more noble, courageous, and selfless responsibility to take on. These people do more for their community in one shift than most people do in a lifetime. I am so grateful for their service,” said Carter.

To participate, mail your valentine, card, or note to:
