FOIA Request to College of Coastal Georgia Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we at Coastal GA News have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the College of Coastal Georgia. This request seeks detailed information about the university’s current Chinese National students and related policies.

Specifically, we are requesting documents or lists that provide insight into the number and departmental distribution of Chinese National students currently enrolled at the university. Additionally, we seek information regarding scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship. In particular, we are interested in any scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

Furthermore, our request includes any existing policies or procedures that outline how the university monitors its students—specifically Chinese Nationals—to safeguard intellectual property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of both Coastal GA News and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As media professionals dedicated to gathering and reporting news for public benefit, access to such records is crucial for us to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency.

We have also requested a fee waiver for this information based on our role in disseminating news to the public. Our efforts are supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization committed to investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information laws.
