A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Camden County Election Department on February 5, 2025. The request, made by Coastal GA News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought information about the candidates running in the upcoming election.

In our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we asked for a list of all candidates that are running for this upcoming election. We requested specific details about each candidate including their first, middle and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation.

Furthermore, we requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address. As a media organization disseminating information to the public, we believe access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.

We at Coastal GA News understand that our role in gathering and reporting news is vital in promoting transparency within our community. Therefore, we have also applied for a fee waiver as a media professional under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq.

Our commitment remains steadfast towards delivering comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs to our readership.
