Figures also show that total enrollment at David L. Rainer Elementary reached 474 students in the 2024-25 school year. African American students accounted for 25% of the student population, ranking as the school’s second-largest demographic group.
The school operates within the Camden County School District, which has its central office based in Kingsland.
Camden County High School reported the largest number of African American students within the Camden County School District, enrolling 648 students in the 2024-25 school year among the district’s 12 schools.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Georgia public schools’ racial and ethnic breakdown was approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Chronic absenteeism continues to be a significant challenge in Georgia schools post-pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. To address the issue, GaDOE initiated a statewide campaign featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness initiative, and targeted interventions for districts most in need to improve daily attendance rates.
