Camden County – GA issued the following announcement on Apr. 19.

The Camden County Board of Commissioners would like to invite area residents to apply for the next Citizens’ Academy class beginning on May 5, 2022. 

The Camden County Citizens’ Academy, established in 2009, is an interactive program designed to familiarize the general public with the roles, services, and operations that comprise Camden County Government. The program focuses on educating residents, business owners, and interested persons who work in Camden County on the contributions of daily County Government operations towards building a better community. A variety of Camden County staff and elected officials will lead each session.   

The Citizens’ Academy consists of ten (10) sessions over nine (9) weeks. Sessions are held on Thursday nights at 6:00 p.m., with an additional Tuesday night class to attend a Board of Commissioners meeting. Class sessions are held in varying venues across the county and will include several tours of government facilities.

Archaeological field investigation to begin for St. Simons Island Gateway Project

Glynn County will begin an archaeological field investigation on May 11 as part of infrastructure planning for the St. Simons Island Gateway Project. The work will take place near major intersections on St. Simons Island over approximately five days.
