In a demonstration of bipartisan unity, Representative Earl L. “Buddy” Carter has joined House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul and Ranking Member Gregory W. Meeks in cosponsoring a resolution condemning recent Hamas attacks and reaffirming support for Israel. This collective effort underscores a firm American stance against terrorism while standing in solidarity with Israel during the attacks by terrorist groups. Representative Carter, alongside bipartisan colleagues, cosponsored a resolution expressing strong support for Israel in the face of attacks by Hamas and other terrorists while condemning the violence. Emphasizing the need to stand firmly with Israel, the resolution aims to showcase the United States’ unwavering alliance with its Middle Eastern ally during the attacks. The resolution is expected to receive significant bipartisan backing once considered on the House floor.

According to a press release, Representative Carter stated, “Our strongest ally in the Middle East, Israel, is under attack by Hamas terrorists. Now is the time for the United States to again express our unequivocal support of the Israeli people and state. Israel will respond swiftly and decisively with full backing from the United States to bring about total victory against their enemies.”

Ranking Member Meeks also expressed his support for the resolution, stating, “Israel is responding to the Hamas terror organization’s unprecedented attack. The bipartisan resolution will demonstrate this is one issue in which the US House of Representatives is united, and I expect it to pass the House with broad bipartisan support.”

The resolution condemns Hamas’ unprovoked war against Israel, which was launched on October 7, 2023, encompassing extensive attacks by air, land, and sea, including the firing of thousands of rockets. It underscores Israel’s right to self-defense and urges global condemnation of Hamas’ attacks. Additionally, it mourns the casualties caused by the conflict, reiterates the U.S.’s commitment to Israel’s security, and advocates for strict enforcement of sanctions against Iran to prevent funding of terrorist groups. The resolution also stands ready to provide emergency assistance and various forms of support to Israel.

Representative Michael McCaul, a Republican who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, highlighted the broad support for the resolution, stating, “We have over 400 co-sponsors, which is almost unheard of. But it just shows our unity behind Israel and our condemnation of Hamas and this terror attack that occurred last Saturday.”

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in significant casualties. As of Wednesday, ABC News reported that over 1,200 people have died and 2,900 others have been injured in Israel since the attack on Saturday. Palestinian authorities reported over 1,100 casualties and 5,339 injuries in Gaza.

The bipartisan resolution cosponsored by Representative Carter and his colleagues sends a strong message of support for Israel and condemnation of Hamas’ attacks. It underscores the solidarity of the United States with its Middle Eastern ally and emphasizes the need to stand firmly against terrorism. The resolution is expected to receive significant bipartisan backing when considered on the House floor.
