Seven Asian students were enrolled at Midway Middle School for the 2024-25 school year, an increase of 16.7% compared to the prior year, reports the Georgia Department of Education.
According to the data, overall enrollment at Midway Middle School reached 724 students for the 2024-25 school year. Asian students—at 1% of the student body—constituted the smallest demographic group at the school.
The school operates within the Liberty County School District, which is headquartered in Hinesville.
Of the 12 schools in the Liberty County School District, Bradwell Institute reported the largest Asian student enrollment in 2024-25, with 37 students registered.
An analysis by the National Center for Education Statistics found Georgia public schools had a student body that was about 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Chronic absenteeism remains a significant challenge statewide, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, the Georgia Department of Education said. The agency has responded with a statewide program featuring a live attendance dashboard, marketing campaigns to raise awareness, and tailored support for districts most affected.
This year, Georgia’s updated school attendance legislation forbids expulsion solely for absenteeism and introduces additional reporting requirements, while supporting opportunities for students to earn diplomas through alternative routes.
As of 2026, Georgia posted an average student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, compared to the national average of 15:1.
